Fellowship in Genitourinary and General Surgical Pathology

• MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
• Completion of an accredited AP or AP/CP residency.
• Board eligible or board certified in Pathology.
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure.

The Genitourinary and General Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine provides intensive subspecialty training within a high-volume tertiary care academic center. Fellows gain extensive experience in the interpretation of prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, and other genitourinary specimens, including complex oncologic cases. The curriculum combines dedicated genitourinary pathology sign-out with broad exposure to general surgical pathology, ensuring comprehensive diagnostic development. Fellows participate in frozen section consultations, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and clinicopathologic conferences with urologists and oncologists. Training emphasizes the application of immunohistochemistry, molecular techniques, and digital pathology in routine practice. Fellows are encouraged to engage in clinical and translational research and to present their work at national meetings. Close mentorship from expert faculty supports the development of diagnostic confidence, teaching skills, and academic scholarship. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic pathology and specialized practice.
