Fellowship in Gastrointestinal Motility and Neurogastroenterology

• Must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program
• Completion of a Gastroenterology Fellowship is preferred but not mandatory
• Must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree (standard requirement for clinical fellowships)
• Should demonstrate strong interest in gastrointestinal motility, neurogastroenterology, and research
• International applicants must meet U.S. training and credentialing requirements (e.g., ECFMG certification if applicable)
• Must fulfill visa and institutional requirements for clinical training in the United States

The Gastrointestinal Motility and Neurogastroenterology Fellowship Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a one-year clinical and research fellowship designed to provide advanced training in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex gastrointestinal motility disorders. The program focuses on developing expertise in gastrointestinal physiology, advanced diagnostic testing, and therapeutic management of functional gastrointestinal disorders. Fellows receive hands-on training in procedures such as high-resolution esophageal manometry, impedance testing, pH monitoring, wireless capsule motility testing, and anorectal manometry. The fellowship also provides clinical exposure to disorders including achalasia, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dysphagia, gastroparesis, functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and pelvic floor disorders. Fellows participate in clinical research activities and present their findings at national or international motility conferences.
