The Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a highly specialized one-year fellowship designed to prepare otolaryngologists for advanced practice in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Offered through the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the fellowship provides comprehensive clinical and surgical experience at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and affiliated outpatient surgical facilities. Fellows receive extensive hands-on training in cosmetic facial procedures, including rhinoplasty, facelift surgery, blepharoplasty, brow lift, facial implants, laser resurfacing, and injectable aesthetic treatments. The program also offers advanced experience in reconstructive surgery following facial trauma, skin cancer resection, congenital facial deformities, facial paralysis, and complex head and neck defects. Fellows work closely with multidisciplinary teams that include dermatologists, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons, oncologic surgeons, and neurosurgeons to deliver comprehensive patient care. In addition to high-volume operative experience, fellows participate in resident education, multidisciplinary conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research with opportunities to present and publish scholarly work. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic facial plastic surgery, private practice, and tertiary referral centers specializing in aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery.
