Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services

1. Medical degree (MD, DO, or equivalent).
2. Emergency Medicine residency training.
3. Candidate must be in a PGY1–4 program, or have completed a PGY1–3 program and have at least 1 year of post-residency experience.
4. Must meet the applicable ACGME/ABEM requirements.
5. Candidates should be eligible for California medical licensure as required for fellowship training.

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Fellowship at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is a one-year ACGME-accredited fellowship providing advanced training in EMS medical direction, operations, administration, education and emergency medicine. Fellows gain experience through EMS ride-alongs, dispatch-center quality improvement, air medical operations, large-event planning, base-station review and EMS education. The program also includes a core curriculum, research project, Emergency Medicine board certification preparation and Emergency Department clinical shifts. Training is conducted in collaboration with multiple 911-EMS agencies, including the Los Angeles Fire Department, with clinical exposure at Los Angeles General Medical Center and its major trauma and EMS base-station services.

1. Prepare a current CV.
2. Submit 3 letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant's career trajectory.
3. Submit a personal statement describing interest in EMS medical direction, fellowship goals and five-year career plans.
