Fellowship in Emergency Medical Services

• MD/DO (or equivalent medical degree)
• Completed residency in Emergency Medicine (ACGME-accredited or equivalent)
• Board eligible or board certified in Emergency Medicine
• Eligible for a U.S. medical license (Maryland)
• Strong interest in EMS, pre-hospital care, and system leadership
• For international applicants: valid visa (usually J-1) + ECFMG certification

The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a 1-year ACGME-accredited program designed to provide advanced training in pre-hospital emergency care and EMS system leadership. Fellows gain hands-on experience with ambulance services, dispatch operations, and field response while also participating in disaster management and mass casualty planning. The program includes academic components such as teaching, research, quality improvement, and health policy involvement, with optional opportunities to pursue a Master of Public Health (MPH). Overall, it prepares emergency physicians to become leaders in EMS systems, combining clinical expertise with administrative and operational skills.
