The Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is an advanced fellowship providing comprehensive training in the management of critically ill patients. Fellows receive extensive experience in high-acuity intensive care units, including surgical, neurological, cardiac, and other critical care settings. The program emphasizes advanced patient management, point-of-care ultrasound, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, quality improvement, patient safety, and multidisciplinary critical care. Fellows also have opportunities for elective rotations, teaching, and clinical or basic science research.
