Overview
The Adult Critical Care Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary training program designed to equip physicians with advanced skills in managing critically ill adult patients in intensive care units. The program offers extensive clinical exposure across various ICUs, including medical, surgical, and trauma units, enabling fellows to handle complex conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, and multi-organ dysfunction. It emphasizes a generalist approach to critical care by integrating knowledge from anesthesiology, internal medicine, and surgery. Fellows receive hands-on training in advanced procedures such as mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, and bedside ultrasound. The curriculum combines clinical practice with structured teaching, simulation-based learning, and research opportunities, fostering both academic growth and leadership skills. Overall, the fellowship prepares physicians to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care and to take on key roles in critical care medicine globally.
