Fellowship in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry

1. Applicants must complete a General Psychiatry Residency before beginning the fellowship.
2. Applicants must be at the Postgraduate Year 5 (PGY-5) level or higher.
3. Applicants must provide evidence of satisfactory completion, or expected completion, of their General Psychiatry Residency.
4. Applicants must submit United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores for Steps 1, 2 Clinical Knowledge, 2 Clinical Skills, and 3, as applicable to their examination history.
5. International medical graduates must provide an Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certificate, if applicable.
6. Non-United States citizens must submit a copy of their visa or permanent resident card, as applicable.

The Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry is a one-year program that provides specialized training in the assessment and management of psychiatric conditions in patients with medical and surgical illnesses. Fellows gain clinical experience in consultation services, inpatient and outpatient care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the treatment of complex psychiatric conditions associated with physical health problems.

1. Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) or use the electronic application provided by the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
2. Submit a completed application with a personal statement and curriculum vitae.
3. Provide a copy of the medical school diploma.
4. Submit three letters of recommendation, including one from the General Psychiatry Residency Training Director confirming expected satisfactory completion of residency.
5. Submit medical school transcripts and the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (Dean’s Letter).
6. Provide copies of the required USMLE examination scores.
7. Submit an ECFMG certificate, if applicable.
8. Provide a copy of the visa or permanent resident card if the applicant is not a United States citizen.
9. Attend interviews with the Program Director and at least two clinical site directors.
10. Participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Match process for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry fellowships.
