Fellowship in Colorectal Surgery

The Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a one-year, ACGME-accredited advanced surgical training program designed to develop expertise in the full spectrum of colorectal surgery. The fellowship provides comprehensive exposure to the diagnosis and management of both common and complex diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disorders. Fellows gain extensive hands-on experience in open, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive procedures, as well as endoscopic techniques and perioperative patient care. The program emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, involving collaboration with oncology, gastroenterology, and radiology teams, along with active participation in tumor boards, academic conferences, and research activities. Overall, the training prepares fellows for independent clinical practice and leadership roles in colorectal surgery.
