The Clinical/Research MRI Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a one-year fellowship designed for radiologists pursuing academic careers in magnetic resonance imaging. Offered through the Department of Radiology, the program combines advanced clinical training, hands-on MRI technology experience, and dedicated research in a high-volume academic environment. Clinical and research activities are divided between Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Endeavor Health Evanston Hospital, providing exposure to more than 20 MRI scanners across the two institutions, including state-of-the-art 1.5T and 3T MRI systems. Fellows receive comprehensive training in cardiovascular MRI, neuroradiology, body imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, and may also complete elective rotations in breast MRI, pediatric imaging, and interventional MRI. A distinctive feature of the program is supervised hands-on MRI scanning, allowing fellows to develop practical expertise in MRI acquisition techniques, protocol optimization, and advanced imaging technology. Dedicated research time enables fellows to collaborate with physician-scientists, PhD researchers, and MRI scientists from Siemens Healthineers on innovative translational imaging projects. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic radiology, advanced MRI research, and leadership positions in imaging sciences.
