Fellowship in Clinical Psychology

The Clinical Psychology Training Program (CPTP) at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is a two-year integrated training program based on the scientist–practitioner model, consisting of a one-year APA-accredited clinical psychology internship followed by a one-year postdoctoral clinical and research fellowship. The program provides intensive training in evidence-based psychological assessment, psychotherapy, and clinical research, with strong mentorship and interdisciplinary learning across diverse healthcare settings. It emphasizes working with underserved and complex patient populations, including individuals with severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. The program is designed to develop research-oriented clinical psychologists with advanced competencies in clinical care, academic research, and teaching, preparing graduates for careers in academic institutions, healthcare systems, and research-focused environments.
