Overview
The Clinical Neuropsychology Fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is a highly regarded two-year postdoctoral training program offered through the Division of Neuropsychology within the Department of Neurology. Established in 1996, the fellowship has been a member of the Association of Postdoctoral Programs in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN) since 2007 and follows the Houston Conference Guidelines for specialty training in neuropsychology. The program places a particular emphasis on epilepsy while also providing extensive exposure to a broad spectrum of neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Fellows receive advanced clinical training through the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and work with patients experiencing epilepsy, dementia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, movement disorders, brain tumors, and other disorders affecting cognition and behavior. Training includes neuropsychological evaluations, Wada testing, functional brain mapping, multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery conferences, and consultation services. Fellows participate in extensive didactic activities, neurology and psychiatry grand rounds, journal clubs, and specialty conferences. Research is an integral component of the fellowship, with each fellow completing an independent scholarly project suitable for presentation and publication. The program also provides supervision opportunities with neuropsychology trainees, helping fellows develop educational and leadership skills. Graduates are prepared for independent clinical practice, academic careers, research positions, and eligibility for board certification through the American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN).
