The Clinical Biochemical Genetics (CBG) Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a two-year postdoctoral program providing specialized training in clinical laboratory medicine and inherited metabolic disorders. Fellows receive comprehensive experience in biochemical testing, test interpretation, laboratory quality assurance, new test development, troubleshooting, and laboratory management. Training also includes advanced analytical techniques, newborn screening, molecular genetics, cytogenetics, and clinical genetics rotations. The program prepares fellows for eligibility for certification examinations in Medical Genetics and Clinical Biochemical Genetics through the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
