Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery

1. Medical degree: MD, DO, or equivalent medical qualification.
2. Prerequisite training: Completion of the required surgical residency training for entry into cardiovascular and thoracic surgery fellowship.
3. Must meet Cedars-Sinai Graduate Medical Education (GME) eligibility requirements.
4. U.S./Canadian graduates: Graduate from an LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school.
5. International medical graduates (IMGs): Graduate from a medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and have either ECFMG certification or a full, unrestricted U.S. medical license.
6. Must satisfy any additional requirements applicable to the fellowship and relevant American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS) training pathway.

The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai provides advanced training in cardiac and thoracic surgery, including preoperative evaluation, operative management, postoperative care, and management of complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. The program combines hands-on surgical experience with didactic education, conferences, journal clubs, morbidity and mortality reviews, and progressive responsibility in the operating room and clinical care.

1. Complete the required surgical residency/training.
2. Confirm eligibility for the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Fellowship.
3. Meet all Cedars-Sinai GME eligibility requirements.
4. Prepare the required application and supporting documents.
5. Submit the fellowship application through the program's designated application process.
6. The fellowship program reviews applications and selects candidates for interview.
7. Attend the interview if shortlisted.
8. Complete Cedars-Sinai credentialing, licensing, and onboarding requirements.
9. Begin the fellowship after receiving the final appointment.
