Fellowship in Body Imaging

1. Applicants must hold a medical degree (Doctor of Medicine or equivalent).
2. Applicants must complete an accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency before starting the fellowship.
3. Applicants must be eligible for American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification and board-eligible as a radiologist at the time of joining.
4. Applicants must meet the requirements for a California medical license at the time of fellowship commencement.
5. International medical graduates whose training was not completed through an approved Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program should review California medical licensing requirements before applying.
6. Applicants requiring an H-1B visa are not eligible, as UC San Diego does not sponsor H-1B visas for trainees.

The Body Imaging Fellowship is offered by the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego) School of Medicine in La Jolla, California. UC San Diego is a public research university recognized for medical education, clinical care, and scientific research. Its School of Medicine provides advanced postgraduate training in diagnostic imaging and related specialties. This fellowship provides specialized training in interpreting abdominal and pelvic images using computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, radiography, and fluoroscopy. Fellows gain clinical experience in body imaging, high-risk obstetrical ultrasound, fetal imaging, and multidisciplinary tumor conferences, with opportunities to develop focused expertise in computed tomography, ultrasound, or magnetic resonance imaging. The program also supports research, teaching, and collaborative patient care to prepare fellows for advanced clinical and academic careers in radiology.

1. Complete the official Body Imaging Fellowship application form.
2. Prepare a personal statement describing your career goals and personal interests.
3. Obtain three letters of recommendation, including one from your residency program director.
4. Prepare your curriculum vitae (CV).
5. Submit a copy of your medical school Dean’s Letter (Medical Student Performance Evaluation). If it is not yet available, provide confirmation that you have requested it.
6. Submit your United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) transcript.
7. Submit a copy of your medical school diploma.
8. Indicate your preferred area of focused training: Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US), or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
9. Submit the completed application and supporting documents to the program for review.
10. If shortlisted, participate in the interview process. Interviews for the 2028–2029 academic year are scheduled to begin on January 11, 2027.
