Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging

The UAB Abdominal Imaging Fellowship provides 12 months of advanced training in abdominal and pelvic imaging using computed tomography, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, and non-vascular image-guided interventional procedures. Fellows gain extensive experience in complex hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, transplant, prostate, and pelvic imaging. Training also includes CT- and ultrasound-guided biopsies, aspirations, fluid drainage, and selected renal and hepatic lesion ablations. Fellows participate in daily teaching sessions and multidisciplinary conferences with gastroenterology, transplant surgery, urology, gynecologic oncology, surgical oncology, and gastrointestinal surgery. Research opportunities are available throughout the fellowship, with faculty mentorship and access to imaging physics, informatics, statistical, and research resources.

1. Complete the required Diagnostic Radiology residency training.
2. Confirm eligibility for medical licensure in Alabama.
3. Complete the UAB Abdominal Imaging Fellowship application.
4. Submit three letters of recommendation, including one from the residency program director.
5. Submit a personal statement.
6. Submit an updated curriculum vitae.
7. Provide United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and medical school transcripts.
8. Submit the completed application to the UAB Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Program for review and selection.
