Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging

The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program for physicians who have completed a diagnostic radiology residency, offering comprehensive training across all major imaging modalities used in abdominal and pelvic care, including ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET-CT, fluoroscopy, and general radiography, along with minimally invasive image-guided procedures. Fellows train at UMass Memorial Medical Center, a 781-bed tertiary care hospital and Worcester County's only Level I trauma center, working closely with faculty in a high-volume clinical environment across the University and Memorial campuses. With two positions offered per cycle, the fellowship emphasizes developing well-rounded abdominal radiologists who combine strong clinical skills with scholarly, educational, and leadership growth.

1. Program does not participate in ERAS or NRMP — applications are handled independently by the department
2. Follows the SCARD (Society of Chairs in Academic Radiology Departments) national application and interview timeline
3. Applications for the upcoming cycle open November 1 (e.g., 2026–2027 cycle opened November 1, 2024)
4. Interviews conducted January through March
5. Selected candidates are offered positions directly by the program (outside the Match system)
6. Upon selection, complete standard credentialing, licensure verification, and pre-employment checks before fellowship start
