The Renal Transplantation Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) provides specialized training in Transplant Nephrology through the Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute. The program includes extensive clinical experience in managing kidney transplant recipients in inpatient and outpatient settings, along with donor evaluation, pre-transplant assessment, recipient evaluation, and kidney graft biopsy. Fellows receive training in immunosuppression, fluid and electrolyte management, acid-base balance, blood pressure and glucose control, and infection prevention. The one-year clinical track also includes rotations in the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) laboratory, pathology, and research, while the two-year combined track provides additional research training and opportunities for a Master of Epidemiology or Certificate in Clinical Investigation.
