Overview
The Nuclear Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is a clinically oriented one-year postgraduate training program designed to develop physicians proficient in diagnostic nuclear imaging and therapeutic applications of radiopharmaceuticals. The program exposes fellows to a wide range of clinical cases in oncology, cardiology, neurology, and endocrine disorders, using PET/CT, SPECT/CT, bone scans, thyroid imaging, adrenal and renal functional imaging, and cardiac nuclear studies. Fellows also gain experience in targeted radionuclide therapy such as radioiodine therapy for thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism, bone pain palliation, and emerging theranostics. Training includes structured didactics, case conferences, quality assurance in imaging, radiation safety, and multidisciplinary collaboration with oncology, cardiology, and surgical specialties. Fellows participate in scholarly activity, research projects, and teaching opportunities. Graduates are prepared for American Board of Nuclear Medicine certification or its equivalent and for careers in academic nuclear medicine, advanced imaging centers, or integrated molecular diagnostics programs.
