Overview
The Adolescent Medicine Fellowship is a 3-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program that provides advanced training in the comprehensive healthcare of adolescents and young adults. The program focuses on the physical, emotional, and social health needs of adolescents, including preventive care, reproductive and sexual health, eating disorders, mental health, substance use, chronic disease management, LGBTQ+ health, and health-risk behaviors. Fellows receive multidisciplinary clinical training through inpatient and outpatient services, along with opportunities in research, quality improvement, advocacy, teaching, and community health initiatives. The fellowship prepares physicians for independent practice as adolescent medicine specialists and for leadership roles in clinical care, education, and research.

Fellows receive an annual stipend according to the UIC Graduate Medical Education (GME) fellowship salary scale: PGY-4 – USD 76,251, PGY-5 – USD 79,433, and PGY-6 – USD 84,196 (FY 2024–2025), along with additional benefits.

Eligibility
- Must have completed an accredited residency program in one of the following specialties:Pediatrics
- Internal Medicine
- Family Medicine
- Must possess an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized medical school.
- Must meet the University of Illinois Graduate Medical Education (GME) requirements for fellowship appointment.
- Must be eligible for U.S. medical licensure and credentialing requirements.
- Applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- Candidates must participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Match.
- International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must fulfill required U.S. certification requirements (including ECFMG certification) and visa requirements. (The program sponsors J-1 visas only.)

Admission Process:
- Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship Match.
- Submit the application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- Ensure submission of a complete application file for review by the fellowship selection committee.
- Applicants are evaluated based on their residency training, clinical experience, academic background, and interest in adolescent medicine.
- Selected candidates are contacted for interviews after individual review of completed applications.
- Final selection is completed through the NRMP Match process.
- Selected fellows complete required onboarding and credentialing procedures before starting the fellowship.
