The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a 2.5-year, 8-semester professional program designed to prepare students for entry-level practice as physical therapists. The curriculum combines foundational sciences, classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory training, clinical reasoning, evidence-based practice, and progressive clinical education. Students complete 116 credit hours, including 38 weeks of clinical education, with clinical experiences beginning in the second semester and culminating in a final 16-week clinical internship. Eligibility
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an institution with recognized institutional accreditation before the program begins
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0; applicants with a GPA between 2.7 and 3.0 may be considered under specific conditions
- Must complete the required prerequisite coursework, including:
- Human Anatomy with lab
- Human Physiology with lab
- Upper-division Science / Exercise Physiology / Biomechanics
- Chemistry I & II with labs
- Physics I & II with labs
- Two Psychology courses
- Statistics
- English Writing/Composition
- Prerequisite courses must generally be completed with a grade of C or better; courses with C- or lower do not satisfy requirements
- GRE is not required for the 2026–2027 admission cycle
- International applicants or applicants whose bachelor's degree was completed outside the U.S. must provide WES credential evaluation and meet the English-language requirement: TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS Academic 6.5

- Submit all required transcripts and application materials through PTCAS
- Submit 2 letters of recommendation
- Complete the required PTCAS essay and University of Colorado-specific program essays
- Report completed, in-progress, and planned prerequisite courses in PTCAS
- Pay the University of Colorado supplemental application fee
- Ensure PTCAS verifies the application by the program's verification deadline
- Selected applicants are invited for a virtual interview
- Applicants receiving an offer must complete the required matriculation requirements, including outstanding prerequisites, official transcripts, technical standards, CPR/BLS certification, immunizations, and other required documentation
