Doctor of Medicine (MD) in General Medicine

• MBBS degree (or equivalent) from a recognised medical college.
• Completion of the rotating internship. (Implicit)
• Qualify in INI-CET exam.
• Meet minimum marks requirements in MBBS (General or category-wise minimum) as specified in AIIMS/INI rules. (Often around 55% for the general category, but the exact threshold should be checked in the current notification)
• Satisfy other regulatory requirements (medical registration, etc.) as detailed in the admission notice.

AIIMS Bilaspur offers MD General Medicine as a core postgraduate medical discipline that addresses non-surgical medical care across a broad spectrum of diseases. Over the course of three years, residents are exposed to both outpatient and inpatient care, clinical rounds, investigations, case discussions, emergency medicine, intensive care, consultations with sub-specialities, and academic training. The training emphasises clinical decision making, interpretation of diagnostic tests, patient management, research, and adherence to medical ethics. Given that AIIMS Bilaspur has a teaching hospital with a variety of cases, the students get diverse exposure. As the number of seats is limited, admission is competitive, and performance in INI-CET and previous academic record play a critical role. Graduates of MD General Medicine are prepared for roles in hospital medicine, speciality clinics, academics, research, or further specialisation (super-speciality).

1. Complete MBBS and compulsory internship; ensure all certificates and medical registration are in order.
2. Monitor official notification for INI-CET (PG) for the relevant year.
3. Register for INI-CET and take the exam.
4. Check the cutoff rank for MD General Medicine at AIIMS Bilaspur for your category. (Recent cutoff for General category Round 1 was Rank 122 in INI-CET.
5. Participate in the counselling/seat allocation process based on rank, availability, and category reservation.
6. If selected, complete document verification, fee payment, and join the MD General Medicine course as per the schedule.
