Overview
The Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Care at AIIMS Rajkot was established recently (31 December 2021) and aims at providing high-quality training in anaesthesia, critical care, pain medicine, and perioperative management. The MD Anaesthesiology course spans 3 years, during which students are trained in all aspects of anesthetic practice—from preoperative evaluation and preparation, intraoperative anesthesia techniques, postoperative care, management of acute and chronic pain, resuscitation, and intensive care management. The curriculum includes both theoretical learning and hands-on clinical exposure in operating theatres, ICU, pain clinics, and emergency services. The department has facilities like observation rooms with multipara monitors and ventilators, pain OPD, etc., to support clinical training. Students are also expected to engage in research, audit, and continuous medical education. After completing MD Anaesthesiology, graduates can either practice clinically, join in hospitals, take up teaching roles or further specialise.

Eligibility
- Must have MBBS degree from a recognised medical university.
- Completed the mandatory one-year internship.
- Minimum percentage in MBBS (e.g., 55% aggregate, as per category if applicable).
- Qualify in the INI-CET (Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test).

Admission Process:
- Complete MBBS and the one-year internship.
- Register for INI-CET when it is advertised by the exam authority.
- Appear for INI-CET and obtain a qualifying score.
- Participate in counselling for MD/MS PG seats, listing AIIMS Rajkot and the Anaesthesiology specialization among preferences.
- If allotted the seat, report to AIIMS Rajkot for document verification, medical examination, and pay required admission and tuition/academic fees.
- Once formalities are complete, begin academic classes and clinical training as per the academic calendar.
