About Course

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Surgery) at the University of Sydney is a specialist postgraduate programme designed for dental practitioners who wish to become qualified oral surgery specialists. The programme combines rigorous clinical training in advanced surgical procedures—covering both hard tissue (bone, maxilla/mandible) and soft tissue surgery (oral mucosa, pathologies), management of medically-compromised patients, pre- and post-operative care, and use of advanced imaging and surgical technologies.
It is delivered in hospital and specialist clinic settings, integrating research components (such as a supervised project in oral surgery/oral pathology) to foster evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
On completion, graduates are eligible to apply for specialist registration in Oral Surgery with the Dental Board of Australia (and equivalent jurisdictions), positioning them for leadership roles in hospital oral surgery departments, specialist private practice, and academic/teaching positions.

Admission Process

Confirm you hold the required dental degree and eligibility for specialist training.
Prepare required documents: transcripts, proof of registration/licensure, CV demonstrating dental practice experience, evidence of interest/aptitude for oral surgery specialisation.
