Overview
The Combined Anesthesiology–Pediatrics Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is a 5-year ACGME-accredited dual-specialty training program that integrates comprehensive education in both anesthesiology and pediatrics. The program begins with a pediatrics-focused internship, followed by balanced rotations in perioperative care, pediatric and adult anesthesia, inpatient and outpatient pediatrics, subspecialty pediatrics, critical care, and pain management. Residents gain hands-on experience at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Children’s Center, managing complex medical and surgical cases while developing advanced clinical and procedural skills. The curriculum emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, research, and mentorship, preparing graduates for careers in pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric critical care, academic medicine, or further subspecialty fellowship training.

Eligibility
- Must possess an MD (Doctor of Medicine) or DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) degree or equivalent (MBBS for IMGs)
- Must be eligible to enter a U.S. residency training program after medical school
- Must have valid USMLE Step 1 & Step 2 CK scores (or COMLEX for DO applicants)
- ECFMG certification is required for International Medical Graduates (IMGs)
- Must apply through ERAS and participate in the NRMP Match process
- Strong academic performance with medical school transcripts and MSPE (Dean’s Letter)
- Submission of Letters of Recommendation (typically 3–4)
- A clear Personal Statement demonstrating interest in both anesthesiology and pediatrics
- Demonstrated clinical experience or exposure in pediatrics and/or anesthesiology preferred
- Must meet institutional requirements for licensure, background checks, and work authorization (visa, if applicable)
