The Med-Peds Nephrology Fellowship Training Program at UNC School of Medicine (UNCSOM), Chapel Hill is a unique, integrated fellowship designed to train physicians in the comprehensive management of kidney diseases across both adult and pediatric populations. This program combines expertise from internal medicine and pediatrics, allowing fellows to care for patients throughout the entire lifespan. It provides extensive clinical exposure in inpatient and outpatient settings, where fellows manage a wide range of conditions such as chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, glomerular disorders, hypertension, and electrolyte imbalances, along with advanced training in dialysis and kidney transplantation. Structured over approximately four years, the fellowship meets requirements for both adult and pediatric nephrology training while also emphasizing research, academic development, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in academic medicine or advanced clinical practice with dual expertise in nephrology for both children and adults.
