The B.Sc in Renal Dialysis Technology offered (or planned) at GMC Doda is a specialised paramedical undergraduate programme designed to prepare students for a critical supporting role in nephrology and dialysis units. Students will study core medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology) as well as dialysis-specific subjects such as dialysis machine operation, renal replacement therapies, infection control, vascular access care, and patient monitoring. Practical sessions and clinical attachments will be integral, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in dialysis units, understand water treatment for dialysis, extracorporeal circuits, machine troubleshooting and patient-care dynamics. Given the increasing incidence of renal disease in India, and the expansion of dialysis services, this course offers scope for employment in hospitals, standalone dialysis centres, and home-dialysis service providers. It also entails teamwork with nephrologists, nurses and biomedical technicians to ensure safe and effective dialysis therapy.
