Minimum Education

The B.Sc. in Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (A&OTT) program at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College (BRAMC), Bangalore, is a 4-year undergraduate program aimed at preparing skilled technologists who assist in surgical and anaesthesia procedures.
The course provides comprehensive training in the preparation and maintenance of operation theatres, sterilization techniques, handling of surgical and anaesthetic equipment, and patient monitoring under anaesthesiologists’ supervision. Students also learn aspects of pharmacology, physiology, and critical care related to surgery.
Through BRAMC’s teaching hospital, students gain hands-on exposure in various surgical departments, including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, and Cardio-thoracic surgery. The internship during the final year emphasizes clinical competence and teamwork in real surgical settings.
Graduates are qualified to work as Anaesthesia Technologists, Operation Theatre Technicians, Surgical Assistants, or Critical Care Technologists in hospitals, surgical centres, emergency departments, and ICUs, or may pursue M.Sc. in Anaesthesia & OT Technology or related postgraduate specializations.
