About Course

Basaveshwara Medical College & Hospital (BMCH), located in Chitradurga, runs a well-established Allied Health Sciences division offering B.Sc allied-health courses including Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology.
The AT & OT programme is designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in anesthesia and operation theatre management. Students learn about human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, anesthetic techniques, operation theatre protocols, sterilization, patient monitoring, and perioperative care. The robust curriculum spans 4 years and is tailored to produce capable anesthesia technicians / OT technologists ready to support surgical teams in hospitals and emergency settings.
Given that BMCH has a fully-functional hospital with an advanced OT complex and a dedicated anesthesiology department — undertaking a wide range of surgeries across specialties — students likely receive ample clinical exposure, hands-on training, and real-world experience in operation theatre settings during their training.
This makes the course suitable for students aspiring to become anesthesia or OT technologists, surgical assistants, or allied-health professionals providing perioperative and critical care support in hospitals, ICUs, and emergency centres.
