Operation Theatre and anesthesia technician is an allied healthcare worker who assists with the administration and monitoring of anesthesia and has an extensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies, and technology.
Anesthesia technicians are involved in patient's care during Peri-operative (The period, Before, during and after the surgery) anesthetic care, taking into account of the patients' religious and cultural beliefs and respecting their right to medical privacy and dignity at all times. Anesthesia Technicians also provide a key role in the emergency resuscitation of patients.
Career Prospects
Hospitals are the primary recruiters of operation theatre and anaesthesia technologists. They work in the operating theatres and emergency departments of hospitals and nursing homes.
Openings are available in the areas of transplant units, orthopaedic clinics, gynaecology units, cancer units, surgery, special care baby units etc. and also in the field of research, education and training. - The lateral entry is applicable for all the UG Degree Course of Allied Health Science wherever corresponding Diploma Course is available in the concerned specialty. The duration of one year Internship applicable for all the Lateral Entry Candidates.
- Candidates belongs to all categories for admission to the Allied Health Sciences should have passed the qualifying examination after period of 12years of study with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Botany and Zoology with minimum 35% marks in each subjects (Academic/Vocational Stream)
