Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Counselling Psychology

1. Should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
2. Educational Qualification: A candidate desiring to join the program leading to the degree B. Sc. (Medical Genetics) should have passed HSC/CBSE/ISC or equivalent examination with one of the following subject combinations:

• Physics, Chemistry, Biology
• Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.

Medical Genetics is one of the oldest but fast-growing frontiers in medical sciences. Since the completion of the human genome sequencing in 2003, the genetic basis of diseases and traits has led to many novel discoveries in medicine. They have led us to the entry into futuristic areas of medicine like “personal medicine” that will bring about improved health, longevity, and quality of life. Genomic analysis of disease causing organisms has become almost essential to pursue with appropriate therapeutic and prophylactic strategies. A career in medical genetics will be rewarding as well as exciting.

Outcome: At Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, the students get exposed to state of the art genomics facilities that include Karyotyping facility, PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), Real time PCR, tissue culture facility and DNA Sequencer.
