Overview
Government Medical College, Jammu is one of the established government medical institutions in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, offering the MBBS programme with recognition from the National Medical Commission. The course spans around 5½ years including internship, and follows the curriculum structure prescribed for undergraduate medical education in India. The college has a significant seat intake (around 180 seats for MBBS) and accommodates students through academic training, clinical postings in associated hospital facilities, and a campus with hostels for students. The infrastructure reportedly includes dedicated departmental labs, dissection halls, and standard teaching facilities. Student reviews highlight good faculty, hostel accommodation, and an active campus life with cultural and sports activities. As a government college the fee structure is relatively affordable compared to many private institutions. The MBBS programme aims to prepare graduates to serve as physicians, lay the foundation for postgraduate education, and meet healthcare service demands in the region.
