Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Overview

• Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) provides basic education in the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda. It prepares students of profound scholarship in the science of Ayurveda having basic and fundamental knowledge in different subjects of Ayurveda back up by extensive practical training. The program enables a student to become an efficient teacher, a research scholar and a competent Ayurvedic Physician and Surgeon to be able to contribute his mite in the medical and health services.

Eligibility

• To be eligible for admission into BAMS course, the candidate should have passed the qualifying examination PUC or 10+2 equivalent examination recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, having secured not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in PCB taken together. (40% in case of SC/ST) Merit for selection is decided by the entrance (KCET/ COMEDK) examination result where in a minimum of 50% marks are mandatory. However in respect of SC/ST candidates the minimum percentage of marks required is 40% instead of 50%. Candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission. Candidates from outside Karnataka State must get eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Candidates of minority status should have Tulu speaking certificate from appropriate authorities.
