The Anatomic Pathology Residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a fully accredited three-year training program based primarily at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, one of the leading academic medical centres in the United States. The residency provides extensive exposure to the full spectrum of anatomic pathology through a combination of structured didactic education and hands-on clinical training. Residents work closely with nationally recognised faculty while evaluating a large and diverse volume of surgical specimens, cytology samples, autopsy cases, and subspecialty consultations. The curriculum emphasises graduated responsibility, allowing trainees to independently review cases before faculty sign-out while progressively developing diagnostic expertise. Educational activities include daily conferences, unknown slide sessions, board review sessions, journal clubs, and resident-led teaching conferences. Training experiences span surgical pathology, hematopathology, molecular pathology, neuropathology, pediatric pathology, dermatopathology, forensic pathology, renal pathology, and cytopathology. Residents also participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and leadership development opportunities. The program is designed to produce highly skilled pathologists who are prepared for board certification, competitive fellowships, academic careers, and leadership roles in pathology and laboratory medicine.
