Urology Residency Program

The Urology Residency Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine (UICOM), Chicago is a six-year integrated residency program designed to provide comprehensive training in all aspects of urologic care. The program combines clinical training, surgical education, and research experience to prepare residents for independent practice in urology. Residents receive advanced training in adult and pediatric urology, urologic oncology, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, endourology, reconstructive urology, male reproductive health, female pelvic medicine, and urologic trauma. The curriculum includes extensive operative experience, multidisciplinary patient care, academic conferences, and research opportunities, enabling residents to develop expertise in diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of urologic diseases. The program prepares graduates for certification by the American Board of Urology (ABU) and careers in academic or clinical urology.

• Hold a medical degree (MD/DO or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.
• International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have an equivalent medical qualification and meet U.S. residency requirements.
• Submit an application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
• Register with the American Urological Association (AUA) Match Program.
• Provide required application documents, including:
• At least three letters of recommendation supporting the Urology Residency application
• Medical school transcripts with Dean’s Letter
• USMLE Step 1 score report
• Personal Statement
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Demonstrate strong academic performance, clinical experience, and interest in urology.
