The Mahavir Hospitals manage by Shri Mahavir Health and Medical Relief Society, Surat. The society runs Shree Mahavir General Hospital since 1978, Smt. R. B. Shah Mahavir Super-speciality Hospital since 2008 and Shri B. D. Mehta Mahavir Heart Institute since 2000, which are commonly known as Mahavir Hospitals. Shree Mahavir General Hospital was inaugurated on 11th October 1978 by the Prime Minister of India, Shree Morarjibhai Desai. The organisation has recognized with DNB Cardiology and DNB General Medicine courses with National Board of Examination, New Delhi. It has also a Nursing School in campus, named Shri Laxmipati Mahavir Nursing School.
