1. Registered Nurse (RN) licensure or eligibility for RN licensure

The RN Fellowship Program at Lurie Children’s is an innovative transition-to-practice initiative meant to support RNs new to pediatric nursing or with limited pediatric experience. It combines structured pediatric orientation, experienced nursing unit-based classes, and three dedicated fellowship classes focused on pediatric patient assessment, pediatric safety, and professional development. Educational delivery includes simulation exercises, didactic instruction, and skills lab practice to strengthen clinical judgments and pediatric competencies. The fellowship emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and building confidence caring for medically complex children and their families. It supports Lurie Children’s commitment to professional development and a culture of inclusion while equipping nurses to thrive in a high-acuity pediatric environment.
