The Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences is a Deemed University, established under Section(3) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act 1956 on 29th September, 2003 by Government of India. It is managed by Pravara Medical Trust, which was established in 1972 in a small remote village Loni situated in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra State by a visionary Padmashree Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the founder of Co-operative movement in India & Padmabhushan Dr Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, former Union Minister and Distinguished Parliamentarian.
