The Family Planning Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a two-year ACGME-accredited Complex Family Planning Fellowship offered through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Based primarily at Prentice Women's Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the program prepares physicians to become leaders in comprehensive reproductive healthcare, clinical education, research, and advocacy. Fellows receive advanced training in complex contraception, abortion care, miscarriage management, management of medically complex pregnancies, ultrasound-guided procedures, office-based gynecologic procedures, and family planning consultation. The fellowship emphasizes evidence-based patient care, ethical decision-making, and multidisciplinary collaboration with specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, anesthesiology, genetics, and reproductive endocrinology. Fellows actively participate in resident and medical student education, quality improvement initiatives, and original clinical research, with opportunities to present at national scientific meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals. The curriculum also includes exposure to healthcare policy, reproductive justice, and community outreach initiatives. Graduates are well prepared for careers in academic medicine, specialized family planning practice, clinical research, and leadership in reproductive health.
