The Post-Baccalaureate Categorical Certificate – Hematology at UTMB provides targeted professional preparation in clinical hematology and related coagulation disciplines as part of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences field. Coursework emphasizes foundational laboratory methods, hematology and coagulation testing, management skills, urinalysis and body fluids, advanced hematology topics, and a clinical preceptorship. The curriculum is structured to support knowledge and technical competence needed to perform hematology diagnostic procedures, interpret results, and contribute to quality clinical laboratory operations. Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification categorical examination in Hematology.
