Post Basic Bachelor of Science (BSc) In Nursing

• Be a registered nurse (Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife ) or equivalent.
• Candidate should have completed GNM Nursing programme successfully.
• Married candidates can seek admission to the course provided they are medically fit.
• Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course.
• Eligibility Certificate: Candidates who have passed any qualifying examination from Boards apart from Govt. of Tamil Nadu shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate, from Chettinad Academy of Research and Education and produce the same at the time of admission and also remit recognition fee as prescribed.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is a two-year undergraduate programme designed to inculcate an in-depth understanding of advanced level nursing. Under this programme, students acquire both surgical and non-surgical nursing skills that prepare them for varied real-world clinical and hospital settings. The programme prepares students to take independent decisions in nursing situations and play a major role in treating patients with care and compassion. The programme transmutes students to industry-trained professionals with a strong understanding of the philosophy objectives and responsibilities of nursing as a profession.

On completion of Post Basic B.Sc Nursing program, the graduates will be able to:

• Assess health status, identify nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients that contribute to health of individuals, families and communities.
• Demonstrate competency in techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles from selected areas of nursing, physical, biological and behavioural sciences.
• Demonstrate leadership qualities and decision making abilities in various situations.
• Participate as members of health team in the promotive, preventive, curative and restorative health care delivery system of the country.
• Provide direct and indirect holistic, patient-centred care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations across a variety of settings.
