Overview
The Combined Pediatrics / PM&R Residency Program integrates rigorous clinical training in pediatric medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation to produce clinicians skilled in managing functional and developmental disorders in children. Residents spend their training alternating between pediatric rotations at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and adult and pediatric rehabilitation rotations at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and affiliated rehabilitation hospitals in the Delaware Valley. The curriculum includes comprehensive exposure to inpatient and outpatient care, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, neuromuscular and complex rehabilitation conditions, physical assessment and electrodiagnostics, gait analysis, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Didactics emphasize core competencies in anatomy, rehabilitation techniques, and pediatric functional assessment alongside robust clinical experience across diverse patient populations. Graduates of the program are prepared to sit for board examinations in Pediatrics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine.

Eligibility
- Completed medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution
- Licensure exam requirements met (USMLE/COMLEX)
- Application through ERAS by the stated deadline
- Three letters of recommendation (including at least one from a PM&R physician is recommended)
- Personal statement, transcript, and Dean’s letter submitted
- Invitation to interview by program leadership

Admission Process:
- ERAS Application: Complete and submit an application through ERAS by the program’s specified deadline (typically by January 31).
- Document Submission: Provide personal statement, exam scores, Dean’s letter, academic transcript, and letters of recommendation (at least one from PM&R faculty recommended).
- Application Review: Program leadership reviews submitted credentials and selects candidates for interviews.
- Interviews: Invited applicants complete interviews coordinated through the residency office.
- Match Participation: Participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP); finalized by match results.
- Offer & Onboarding: Successful candidates receive official offers and complete onboarding prior to training start.
