Overview

The Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children is a two-year, hospital-based advanced clinical training program designed to equip dental graduates with the skills needed for excellence in pediatric dental care. The residency emphasizes a broad clinical experience across preventive and therapeutic care for a diverse pediatric population, including medically complex and special needs patients. Trainees participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with pediatric medicine, anesthesia, sedation teams, and other specialists in a high-volume, referral-based hospital setting. Didactic seminars, research project experience with mentorship, and rotations in general anesthesia, emergency care, speech pathology, and craniofacial clinics are integral parts of the curriculum. Graduates earn a certificate in pediatric dentistry and meet eligibility requirements for board certification through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
