Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency

The 13-month Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency is a post-professional program for licensed physical therapists, offered by the University of Colorado School of Medicine in partnership with UCHealth. The program provides advanced outpatient orthopaedic clinical training with at least 150 hours of clinical mentorship, physician clinic and surgical observation, advanced joint-region coursework, professional development, and approximately 100 hours of teaching in the entry-level DPT program. The curriculum covers the shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, lumbar spine, SIJ, hip, knee, ankle/foot, cervical and thoracic spine, and TMJ, while preparing residents for the ABPTS Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) examination.

1. Apply through RF-PTCAS, the centralized application system for physical therapy residencies
2. Submit a complete and verified application by the stated deadline
3. The application must be verified in RF-PTCAS to be considered for an interview
4. Applicants are advised to submit early because the verification process may take more than two weeks
5. Complete the required supplemental application
6. Pay the $75 supplemental application fee; failure to pay makes the application incomplete
7. Applicants selected from the qualified pool proceed to the interview process
8. The program accepts two residents per year
9. The residency begins in August and runs for approximately 13 months
