The Obesity Medicine Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year program providing comprehensive clinical training in the evaluation and management of obesity and obesity-related conditions. Fellows receive mandatory clinical experience in the UAB Weight Loss Medicine Clinic and can participate in electives covering pediatric and adolescent obesity, metabolic and bariatric surgery, sleep medicine, hepatology, advanced diabetes management, hypertension, and endocrinology. The program emphasizes multidisciplinary patient care, lifestyle interventions, pharmacological treatment, and management of obesity-related diseases. Fellows also participate in obesity-focused lectures, grand rounds, journal clubs, case conferences, teaching activities, and research or quality-improvement projects during the fellowship.
