Neurodiagnostic Technology Program

1. High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary degree preferred)
2. Preferable prior health-care experience (CNA, medical assistant, EKG tech, etc.)
3. Basic Life Support (BLS) typically required (for clinical roles assisting with patient care)

The Neurodiagnostic Technology Program at Lurie Children’s Hospital is a 12-month clinical training experience designed to prepare individuals for proficiency in pediatric neurodiagnostic testing. The program combines didactic instruction based on the ASET-EEG Core Curriculum (EEG 200-211) covering foundational neuroscientific and technical concepts with extensive hands-on clinical training in routine EEG, long-term monitoring (LTM), ICU continuous EEG (cEEG), evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies, and other neurophysiologic procedures. Participants work directly with neurodiagnostic technologists and pediatric neurologists in multiple hospital settings including the Epilepsy Center and Neurocritical Care units, completing approximately 1500 direct patient care clinical hours and rotating night shifts as part of training. The program is one of the few in the United States approved by the ABRET-Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation Board as a pathway toward eligibility for the Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) examination. Graduates receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credits and are positioned to pursue professional neurodiagnostic credentialing and careers in EEG and neurophysiology.
