Neonatal Nurse Certificate Course

Applicants must have completed B.Sc Nursing or GNM course.

This certificate course especially tailored for skill building of a nurse with the major focus on initials assessment, reassessment of advanced practices that care for premature babies and sick-new born in intensive care unit,emergency room , delivery rooms and specials clinic .These nurses will develop in to expert on newer techniques and instruments and will play a major role in neonatal care.

On successful completion of the course, the student will be competent to:

• To understand the introduction of neonatal nursing, high risk pregnancy, hypertension and diabetes mellitus and anemia.
• To understand the injuries during birth, resuscitation of the newborn and ventilation, evaluation.
• To understand the how to care baby at birth, prevention of infection, thermal protection & kangaroo mother care.
• To understand the difference between feeding of normal & low birth weight babies.
• To understand the transport of neonates and neonatal morbidities.
• To understand the quality standards for neonatal nursing care.
• To understand the infection control, epidemiology of infection and nosocomial infection.
