Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences (MIAMS), Manipal

The Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda Medical Sciences established with a vision to impart the knowledge of Ayurveda to one and all. The Institution took its inspiration from Late Dr. U. Krishna Muniyal, an Ayurvedic practitioner for over 40 years, who established Muniyal Ayurveda in 1940. Dr. U. Krishna was a direct disciple of Pandith Taranath, a great Ayurvedic physician, who had treated Mahatma Gandhi several times. The college intends to train the students in Ayurveda by using modern scientific ways, so that when they complete their course of study, they will be ready to face the challenges ahead without any setback. It will also encourage the students to involve themselves in Ayurvedic research.

Facilities:

Herbal Garden: Herbal gardens are developed in Manipal at Ayurveda college campus. Apart from this medicinal plant gardens and sacred herbal gardens are developed at Bailur, Udupi. Yellare and Muniyal over an area of 20234 square metres. Around 2830 medicinal plants across 406 species are available in college campus with good irrigation facility. 

Hostel Facility: The girl’s hostel is eligible to accommodate around 150 students and the boys hostel can accommodate up to 60 students. As most of the students are localities they opt for the status of day scholars.

Library: The college is provided with a well-equipped and spacious library with over 12000 books and seating for over 100 students. The books are not only an Ayurveda but also on contemporary health sciences and other allied disciplines.

Sports: Muniyal Institute of Ayurveda provides the facility and encourages for participation in Sports. There are facilities to play indoor games such as carom, Chess, Table Tennis and outdoor games like cricket, volley ball and throw ball. We also participate in inter college and University sports.
