Overview

ESI-PGIMSR & ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Joka, Kolkata is a government medical institution under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India), established in 2013 and affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. The MS-Otorhinolaryngology program is a 3-year postgraduate degree that equips medical graduates with in-depth surgical and clinical expertise in ENT conditions. The training includes hands-on experience in surgical procedures such as tympanoplasty, tonsillectomy, sinus surgery, endoscopic procedures, and management of head and neck pathology. Residents participate in outpatient care, inpatient services, emergency ENT interventions, audiology assessments, and head & neck oncology management under supervision. The curriculum blends academic instruction, journal clubs, seminars, case presentations, and research projects to foster both clinical decision-making and procedural competency. Exposure at the associated ESIC Model Hospital ensures residents gain experience with diverse patient populations and complex cases, preparing them for independent clinical practice, academic roles, or specialist positions after graduation.
