Overview

The Orthopaedic Surgery Department at AIIMS Rajkot became operational in December 2021, initially providing Out-Patient Department (OPD) services across a broad spectrum of bone and joint disorders. The department infrastructure is growing, with planned expansion into in-patient services and surgical interventions in orthopaedics. The MS Orthopaedics programme is slated to train surgeons across trauma, elective orthopaedic procedures, deformity corrections, paediatric orthopaedics, arthroplasty, etc., once full surgical facilities are active. Because AIIMS Rajkot is a newer AIIMS, students may have opportunities to influence and contribute to development of sub-specialised clinics (e.g. sports injuries, spine, tumour orthopaedics) as hinted in the department's mission. The academic component includes handling of clinical cases, surgical rotations once operative services are fully running, research projects, seminars, and continuous evaluation.
